I personally use the OEM tire pressure and just chalk up the sidewalks and take a look after each lapping session to check on whether or not I can lower the air pressure.
I have been ok with OEM tire pressure on 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 dunlop zii
My understanding is if you want to very precise about about tire pressure, you would need pyrometer to check for even temperatures across the width of the tread. I haven't bothered because the sidewall looks ok and I am lapping for fun, not points or $.
