When the a/c is on AUTO, then the temp #s matter and it sets it to correspond w/ the number, and then you can also set the fan speed (it will have varying a/c air to maintain that temp setting).
When the auto is OFF, then besides the fan speed you can set the cool/warm but the flow is constant.
