Don't be offended when another car of the same ilk does that, it's a sign of respect. I park as absolutely far away from most entrances as possible, typically by myself. If I come out and see another nice BMW, or Porsche, or Ferrari (that's happened, twice actually) parked next to me, I know it's a silent nod to the type of owners we are. It says, without speaking, "I know you're not an idiot, you know I'm not an idiot, so we can safely park next to each other, vs next to any of the other 1564 cars in this lot that surely are owned by idiots".

I know what you mean. I'm really afraid to park in certain places sometimes. It is nicer knowing someone will take extra care around your car.
