No, BMW has never put an F1 engine in a production car. He probably just meant the high revving V8 and V10 from the last generation (Exx) M passenger cars, as he mentioned in his post.

Encouraging to hear they won't make the standard model wait for the "coupe" series model, then releasing the two M variants simultaneously. Hopefully this foreshadows the next generation M3 coming before the next generation M4 (and 4 Series for that matter) as well.
