Actually it's 7% in most cases but remember on most cars there is a laundry list of options as well.

If you go in uneducated your CA may be willing to take 7% off of MSRP and leave all of the options at full retail. For the uneducated this might look like a great deal. In my case I would have left over $4000 on the table by doing that.

I think for most buyers it's easier to understand what the invoice price of the car is - either US delivery or ED and then shoot for around $500-$1000 over that price.
