What is the error message causing this decision?
I'm pretty sure, that each of the two switches IN the roof shell is ok and needs no replacement. Only the wires TO these switches will break after 6-10 years.
Each E89 roof can be repaired in half a day. What the hell are they trying to do over 3 months?

That is absolute nonsense, because both headliners are clipped into the roof shells. You can even unclip them by hand without destroying the clips.
