Probably because it is standard practice to field-test all parts. Consider that a poor fitting, wear-prone, or noisy part might only be exposed in a real world test.

Also, I suspect that they will replace the N54 in the 35i with the N55. So that will need to be tested (although the car in the picture appears to be a four cylinder N20 model). It remains to be seen what will become of the 35is model.
