My car went into safe mode the other day and the first thing I thought was "HPFP". BMW checked it out and nope, "one cylinder misfired, once" was the result of the computer probe. I asked specifically about the HPFP and the issues on the net and the service writer told me it was mostly in the 335, 535 and 135's (I know, same engine) and that they haven't had any issues yet, she thought the HPFP had been upgraded in the Z's . It does make some sense as the HPFP isn't in the engine so why should it be the same (it could be, I'm assuming it isn't) I wonder if US models (mine is a Canuck version) may have had the same HPFP in earlier ones, I'm sure that more US cars were mfg'd before the Canuck production run was made so we might just be lucky up here. Of course my HPFP could fail tomorrow ...
