Thanks again.
3-4 weeks of normal driving should be more than enough provided you have at least some highway-like driving in there.

xHP being a trans tune shouldn't be looked at at all, let alone cause an issue. My car's a manual so definitely no tune there. I've seen other people talk about passing with it on but unless the flash takes a long time you can just go back to stock there as well for peace of mind.

That procedure is only to speed up having monitors complete after flashing a new tune or clearing codes. Anyone with a stock or legal tune won't have to do any of that.

Also COBB stage 1 and stage 1+ maps say this in their map notes:

https://www.cobbtuning.com/maps/bmw-n54-stage-1-map

https://www.cobbtuning.com/maps/bmw-...age-1-fmic-map

so doesnt this mean its legal to run those COBB maps in California?

https://ww3.arb.ca.gov/msprog/afterm...eo/d-660-7.pdf

So maybe consider running Cobb stage 1 and have it all be legal? No more uninstalling and 8 step programs to pass it?

EDIT!
I just realised that this CARB document lists Z4-s from 2009 -2012 and doesnt list newer n54 Z-s... so it doesnt probably work on a 2015 or 2016 car.... bummer
Thats also probably why they dont list Z4 on their site anymore... too confusing to the customers... and probably better to just not list z4 at all...

but in reality... their stuff works on earlier n54 Z4-s and evenmore is legal to run...
Yeah, you definitely need that CARB EO number specific to your year/ model to pass even if it's functionally identical to previous years. For things like intakes you need to have that sticker on the car and for tunes it's in their database and the smog tech isn't even questioned, their computer just says pass/fail. One of many reasons why I won't miss this state once I leave...
