I you lift the rear window up, you'll see there are two rubber covered stops sticking out on each side on the roof structure.
I moved the bottom one on the passenger side to the topmost position (loosen the torx screw and slide it). The screws are pretty tight, I needed to use a small wrench for them.

Maybe the cars are assembled by two guys one on each side. My boot lid was also too tight on the right hand side.
