Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since the EPA mileage is the same for both the 35i and 35is and the latter (in theory) only uses more gas when it's running in overboost, I would imagine both engines gat comparable mileage when driven sanely. That said, my wife's 35i consistently gets 23.7 mpg (by the dash readout) on her 20 mile commute over a winding mountain road and when we bought the car home from Ariz. where we bought it (a 600+ mile trip) it got 27.5 hand calculated mpg. And that was doing an average 75-80 mph.
