Dead Control panel happened to me for the first time last night. (I had a 2009 35i that this happened once) I have a 2012 35is. The only thing I did different about this start was: I was waiting for the wife to Finnish her meeting ... Sitting in the car about 30 min, nothing on and the key in my pocket. When she came out, I put foot on the brake and pushed the start button. No control panel. It did come back after sitting an hour at home. Maybe since it operates on a bus system the controller needs some time to establish the lan. I don't usually just get in and hit the start button... I Get in, fish the phone out of the pocket, look for cheap sunglasses then hit the button. Maybe the car just needs to be awakened for a tad longer before we hit the start button. Just by 2 cents.
