Yeah, I'd have to go through my insurance and they'd have to go and submit a claim to the city and with California being broke, that might take a while before it becomes settled.

When I had my accident (I'm not at fault), my insurance, AAA, covered my repairs with no questions asked and then the adjuster deal with the other insurance company for payment. No out of pocket for me and no down time figuring out who's at fault. I would recommend go through your insurance, and then let them deal with the city.
