Cool New (to me) 2009 z4 35i 6mt

I am in the midst of a purchase of the Z4 35i manual transmission which i have always wanted. Found a very low mileage (17,700) 2009 on Carvana and was scheduled to pick up in Houston this week (being delivered from another market). Clean car fax report and 150 point inspection looked flawless. 2 owner car that has obviously been garage kept and has minimal wear and tear from the pics. I got a message this afternoon from Carvana informing me that a “mechanical concern was discovered today, which will impact your scheduled delivery or pickup.” Instantly nervous having spent a bunch of time on this forum researching the car. After 45 minutes on hold, I got a human on the phone who informed me that the car needs to be sent to BMW dealership for some sort of reprogram to resolve a problem with the emergency brake. Is this just an update of the car’s software that permanently resolves the issue, or is there a bigger underlying problem with this ebrake? Not sure why they ever did away with the manual handbrake. One more electronic component that can fail.

I called the BMW dealership and explained the situation. They were willing to let me speak with the service advisor, but the car hasn’t made it in yet. Calling back tomorrow. Any suggestions of additional inspection points to have them look at while at the dealership would be greatly appreciated. I’d be happy to pay for a solid mechanical inspection prior to closing the deal. I understand that an 11 year old BMW will have plenty of things that need fixing, and I am up to most mechanical tasks - this will be a fair weather weekend driver which will otherwise live in my garage. Want something I can keep for a long time as BMW has made it clear that the 3rd pedal is going the way of the dinosaur. Would welcome advice from anyone who can help. Cheers!
