IHKA stands for "Intergriertes Heizung und Klima Automatic" or direct translation to English "Integrated Heat and Climate Automatic." It's just a fancy name for the physical HVAC control panel. In the E89's case, the 4 circles and 2 dials.
Based on Lurcher's receipt, it looks like the actual hardware is defective and would need replacement to permanently fix the problem.
This happened to me a 2 or 3 times when I first got the vehicle (very hot summer day). It just started working on its own again after a few start-ups and hasn't happened since.
