The Z4 is definitely faster to 60 mph than the 335i Coupe. Documented 0-60 runs for the new Z4 with DCT have been from 4.3 - 4.8 seconds. The 335i Coupe has been clocked only as fast as 4.8 - 4.9 seconds.
Two advantages the 35i has is that it weighs almost 100 lbs less than the 335i Coupe and has the DCT transmission with launch control, which is superior in shift times to both the manual or Steptronic transmission in the 335i.
According to Road & Track tests, they are nearly identical thru the slalom at 66.2 mph for the Z4 vs 66.4 mph for the 335i.
...and the 335i Convertible weighs almost 4000 lbs, so that's definitely not going to keep up with either car.
