I had the same problem with my wife's Volvo. I used a paper lip to bridge the switch, fooling it into thinking the circuit was closed. No more warning, but of course, no ability to warn if the hood is unlatched. But really, it's not like the hood can open up unexpectedly and block your vision. Kinda pointless IMO.
