Hmmm getting the code here is the best solution for sure. Gas caps seem to be a common issue with newer more sealed fuel reservoirs. But since you just replaced it i would next suspect the sensor instead if that is the same code. If the code is different though you will obviously go down that path instead. Keep us posted.

Sure wish we could buy a Chilton manual like we used to with domestic cars to work on these things. I relied heavily on those years ago when i had a domestic. I know that they have them but it seems like it takes them 10 years to get one for BMW and it only covers the 3 series.
