To my best knowledge, the only electric adjustable damper is from
Bilstein ridecontrol (not for E89 yet)
It can adjust the firmness of the damper by a switch in the cabin, BUT
The M-adaptive damper works differently: not only the damper is adjustable, but it also "sense" the damper forces and adjust automatically, (someone please correct me if I am wrong)
That's why they called "ADAPTIVE"
