Interesting thread here and pretty much universal to everyone who has paid a great deal of money to BMW dealerships for the battery as well the "registration". I have a 2012 Z4 2.8 and have not had to replace the battery yet. I was playing around on my dealers web site (BMW of Silver Spring) and on their parts dept. web page they directed me to getbmwparts.com, (powered by BMW of Silver Silver Spring). Price posted was $152 for the exide battery.
