My car was leased as well (so glad I did). Had 2 accidents last year, 12 weeks total time spent in body shop getting it fixed. I was paying the same monthly payment while driving a damn Yaris.
As far as affecting the lease, none. Just make sure you return the car without major dings/scratches. I had my repairs done at a reputable shop I trust (I don't trust the body shop BMW referred to), made sure all parts are OEM and requested all parts to be documented for lease return. I suggest you request and keep the parts list that was replaced. Upon completion of repairs, car was sent to BMW dealer for final check, all part of the quote to repair so no out of pocket for me.
