C&D did not test drive the car. All they said was that they think the BMW estimated time of 5.6 was a bit optimistic so they guessed at 5.8.
Any number of variables can alter the time. If Inside Line ran a 5.8 on that day in those conditions with that specific car, then it is reasonable to assume that other tests could fall anywhere between 5.4 - 6.0. We won't know for sure until others provide actual test results.
Even the 35i has been tested between 4.3 - 4.8, a half second range. We all know it is never going to be the case where a car will run the exact same time every run.
