Yeah I totally agree with you; it is ridiculous that you cant just swap them over. +$2000 for the upgrade to the 19s is a bit steep. You can usually get 20% off any options. I am sure you know that on a Porsche you have 65 pages of options...everything is configurable and you dont have to go with these packages. I wish BMW was more like them.
I am really warming to the look of the 296Ms...they are the best rim BMW offer as standard on the Z4. You should check out the BMW offering of shadow chrome rims on the new F10 5-series...very aggressive looking. Sat in one the other day pre-release.
All I can say is best of luck with your rims and let us know how you go with them.
