It is unlikely that you valve cover gasket is leaking. It is very likely that you valve cover is cracked and needs replacing. Why did the dealer say that you need to replace your gasket? The valve cover usually develops a crack and that is what causes problems.
However, it you have any wrench turning skills this is an easy diy. The first think that you need to do is to remove the engine cover and inspect the valve cover for hairline cracks.
