It's as clear as day as to what market BMW are now pitching the Z4 to, and it ain't the performance market. But after saying all that this is probably the best compromised design choice after the M3, in this I mean that BMW has decided not to try and compete with the Boxster/Cayman, instead they have compromised outright ability (like in the M3) for style and practicality and in so doing have a brilliant car on their hands.

I bet any money that even with these troubled times the new Z4 will out sell the old one by quite a margin.

P.S.

The reference to the M3 means that instead of stripping out the interior and lightening everything down BMW decided to compromise it's ability slight in the pursuit of a much better overall package, which they succeeded brilliantly.
