While eastern Shandong province is nothing like Switzerland, they actually use snow cannons at the ski "resorts", so it doesn't have to be snowing for us to be able to ski. And it rarely does anyway because winters are rather dry in northern China.
I drive the Z4 almost all year, but avoid rain as well as the most "salty" winter weeks of the year as well.
