Where I've been running short shifters, I've been swapping to
Royal Purple SynchroMax in the transmissions. This seems to help with the cold notch, enough so that it is worth it. Others on forums seem to have similar opinions. Just a thought. On my Z4, we've swapped to Royal Purple, but I don't have the car back yet to tell you how it works with this specific SSK and trans. So only first-hand experience with other BMW's.
