Wow, haven't seen one of those in a while. IIRC from my teen years, there was some trick involving wrapping it in a towel and letting it overheat. I believe that the issue was caused by overheating and the heatsinks becoming malformed - and heating the bitch up again sometimes moved it back into position. Sure, the logic isn't all there, but what have you got to lose?
