The delivery was pretty neat. They had the car right in the lobby of the Performance Center and it drew a whole bunch of attention. I even saw other people that were taking delivery stop to take pictures of us driving off. None of the BMW reps that I talked to could recall another Atacama Z4 having come through there.
I was also really pleased to have been given a mineral white IS to use on the track (assuming that we'd end up with a 35i or some other variant). Between all of the articles that cite the "cruising" characteristics of the Z and having just had the opportunity to track a couple of 911 carrera s's and the new boxter s's, I had mentally lowered my expectations for the Z. Yeah, I'd sacrifice some of the performance for the added comforts and better deal... All that went out the window after the first lap. I don't know what the deal is with the majority of the press on this car, but it was an absolute blast.
