I have the 3M film on my car and would not go any other way. My Z3 and my first Z4 did not have the film and I had more rock chips than you can imagine. I put it on my 2nd Z4 and when I sold it, it looked as good as new. I have it on my 2010 Z4 and also can only see it from a certain angle. The beauty of it is that if it really started to look shabby, it can easily be removed and you have a paint job that is still in pristine condition.
